Today 1st Oct 2025, the Members of the Federal Parliament of Somalia This moment marks a significant step forward in the protection and promotion of children’s rights in Somalia. By adopting this charter, Somalia is now aligned with other African nations in committing to safeguard the rights, dignity, and welfare of every child.

For Somali children—especially the most vulnerable, including IDPs, children affected by conflict, and those living in poverty—this ratification brings hope for stronger legal protections and better opportunities for a safe and dignified future.

As the Somali Child Rights Coalition (SCRC), we welcome this milestone and call on all stakeholders—government, civil society, communities, and international partners—to work together to ensure the effective implementation of the charter so that every child in Somalia can truly enjoy their rights.
