Somali Child Rights Coalition (SCRC) proudly took part in the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities held today at Peace Hotel, an event organized by the Somali Disability and Empowerment Network (SODEN) with support from Humanity Inclusion and German humanitarian assistance. The gathering brought together organizations, government representatives, OPDs, disability-rights activists, and community stakeholders to highlight the importance of inclusion, equality, and protection of the rights of persons with disabilities in Somalia.
The theme for the 2025 commemoration, “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Society for Advancing Social Progress,” underscored the global call to promote accessibility, dignity, and social participation for all. SCRC reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for children with disabilitiesβensuring their voices are heard, their rights upheld, and their needs considered in national development agendas, policies, and community programmes.
SCRC extends appreciation to SODEN, Humanity Inclusion, and all partners who made the event impactful. The coalition will continue strengthening collaboration and pushing for inclusive systems where every child, regardless of ability, can thrive, learn, and participate meaningfully in society. Together, we move towards a future that leaves no child behind.
