The Somali Child Rights Coalition (SCRC) successfully conducted a two-day workshop on โ€œStrengthening Child Safeguarding Systems for National Partnersโ€ on 5th and 6th September 2026 at Hayat Hotel, Mogadishu, with the support of SOS Childrenโ€™s Villages Somalia.

The workshop was officially opened by Mr. Mustafa Mohamed Moalim, Executive Director of the Somali Child Rights Coalition, who thanked the participants for their time and commitment and emphasized the importance of strengthening safeguarding systems, policies, procedures, and organizational practices to ensure that children are protected from harm across all programmes and interventions.

The workshop brought together national partners and child-focused stakeholders to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills on child safeguarding principles, prevention and response mechanisms, safeguarding risk management, reporting pathways, organizational responsibilities, and accountability.

Participants engaged in interactive presentations, group discussions, practical exercises, case studies, and reflection sessions aimed at helping organizations identify safeguarding risks and strengthen their internal systems and practices.

The workshop also provided a valuable platform for national partners to share experiences, identify common safeguarding challenges, and develop practical actions towards building safer, child-centred, and accountable organizations.

SCRC appreciates the continued support of SOS Childrenโ€™s Villages Somalia in strengthening the capacity of national partners and advancing child rights and protection in Somalia.

Together, we can build stronger safeguarding systems and safer environments where every child is protected, respected, and able to enjoy their rights.
