The Somali Child Rights Coalition (SCRC) has successfully concluded a two-day workshop on โStrengthening Advocacy Capacity of Civil Society Organizations, Line Ministries and Key Stakeholders on Child Rights and Protection in Somalia.โ The workshop was held at Hayat Hotel in Mogadishu on 24th and 25th August 2026, with the generous support of SOS Childrenโs Villages Somalia.
The workshop brought together representatives from civil society organizations, government line ministries and other key stakeholders to strengthen their knowledge and capacity for coordinated advocacy on child rights and protection. Participants engaged in constructive discussions on key challenges affecting children in Somalia, existing policy and legislative gaps, and opportunities to strengthen collaboration and collective advocacy efforts.
The workshop was officially opened by Mr. Bashir Said, SOS Programs Director, who thanked all participants for their commitment and encouraged them to actively engage throughout the sessions. He emphasized the importance of the workshop’s objectives and highlighted the critical role that civil society organizations and other stakeholders play in advocating for and promoting the rights and protection of children in Somalia.
