The Somali Child Rights Coalition participated in a two-day parliamentary review meeting on the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC), jointly organized and led by save the children and the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights under the theme “Towards Full Ratification and Implementation of the Charter.”

The meeting comes at a crucial time as the Federal Parliament of Somalia has already passed the law, which now awaits presidential approval — a historic milestone towards aligning Somalia’s legal framework with continental and international child rights standards.

The meeting brought together members of parliament, government representatives, and civil society organizations, to review Somalia’s progress, identify gaps, and outline concrete next steps towards full ratification and effective implementation of the ACRWC.

Through its active engagement, the Somali Child Rights Coalition reaffirmed its commitment to advancing children’s rights, strengthening national frameworks, and ensuring that every child in Somalia enjoys protection, participation, and equal opportunities.
